On Sunday, Sept. 9, the Monmouth County Park System will sponsor the

24th Annual Sprint Triathlon at Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park, Ocean Avenue, Long Branch. A Jersey Shore tradition, this race is a half-mile ocean swim, 13-mile bike ride, and 4-mile run.

The swim and run portions of the competition remain the same as in past years; however, the bicycle course has been straightened for 2007.

Automobiles are not restricted from using the roads while the race is in progress; participants must bike on the road's shoulder, obey traffic rules and be cautious of traffic at all times.

In the event of rough ocean surf, a beach run may be substituted for the swim.

The event will begin at 7:45 a.m. (check in between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m.) The registration fee is $45. Entries will be accepted until Aug. 31 or maximum field size is reached. Race-day entries will not be accepted. Visit monmouthcountyparks.com for an application or call (732) 542-1642, ext. 23.

The U11 NJ Cyclones boys baseball team is looking for boys who wish to play 50/70 fall ball in the USABL league. Games are played on Saturdays and the season begins Sept. 8. Children need to be born after April 30, 1995, in order to be eligible.
