      Fishing is solid and getting better
            Weakfish and striped bass are showing up along the coast in flurries from Raritan Bay to Barnegat Bay. Porgies are showing up along the local piers in big numbers, and plenty of slammer blues are still patrolling the coastline in pursuit of peanut bunkers. Bluefish have been fattening up before they head out for the winter.

            Work, nonstop and on schedule, continues at Monmouth Park as the track prepares to host the first-ever two-day Breeders' Cup World Championships on Oct. 26-27. Monmouth will install some 28,000 temporary seats for the Breeders' Cup.

      Caseys look toward Shore Coaches meet next weekend
            It was a clean sweep for Red Bank Catholic's highly regarded girls cross country team. The Caseys put their depth on full display Saturday at the Shore Coaches Battle of Monmouth Invitational Class Meet held at Monmouth Battlefield State Park in Manalapan.
