15th annual Juried Show at Guild of Creative Art

From the shores of Monmouth County to the shores of Donegal, locations near and far are on view in a vibrant multi-media show of contemporary American artists at the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury.

"Flora3" by Douglas McIlvain "Flora3" by Douglas McIlvain Michael Cagno, curator of the Noyes Museum in Oceanville and an experienced photographer and painter, judged the entries.

"This was a difficult show because of the large number of high-quality entries," Cagno said. From over 200 submissions of painting, photography and sculpture, he selected 162 works from 119 artists to fill the guild's re-designed gallery space.

There were 16 winners in three different categories. First-prize winners include: Muriel Rogers, Colts Neck, Painting; Buren Gilpin, Wall, Sculpture; and Deborah Santiago Bruno, Atlantic Highlands, Photography.

Achievement Awards went to Val Dyshlov, Morganville, Bernice Gaines, Manalapan, and Anthony Migliaccio, Long Branch, Painting; Douglas Mcllvain, Tinton Falls, and Debra Candelora, Colts Neck, Sculpture; Martin Honig, Somerset, William Imhof, Middletown, and Peter Cohen, Toms River, Photography; Elizabeth Ryan, Wall, Acrylic;

"Trees in the Fog and Snow" by Martin Honig "Trees in the Fog and Snow" by Martin Honig Donna J. Roettger, Brick, received the Kojola Memorial Award for Realism. Frank Colaguori, Long Branch, received the AAPL Award for Traditional Realism. Jean Hutter, Lakewood, received the Friedlander Award for Abstract.

The exhibit of award-winning art and other works in the juried show is on view through Oct. 31 at the guild, located at 620 Broad St., Route 35 in Shrewsbury.
