The country fair was a benefit for the VNA of Central Jersey in Red Bank. The Oceanport Garden Club will meet Oct. 25 at the Old Wharf House at 1 p.m. The topic will be "Putting Your Garden to Bed".

The club meets on the fourth Thursday of the month from September through June.

Kensington Court Adult Day Health Services, 864 Shrewsbury Ave., Tinton Falls, will host an informative seminar for local caregivers, "Caregiver 911: Help! And How to Get It!," Oct. 22 at 10:30 a.m. The seminar is open to local caregivers of individuals living with Alzheimer's and dementia, and will address what kind of help is available. St. Anthony's Church and its Social Concerns Committee, Red Bank, will host the first sunset gathering Oct. 20 from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Windward, the Coffey estate. The gathering includes wine, beer, hors d'oeuvres and a tour. Tickets range from $35 to $85, and proceeds will support women and children in need of emergency assistance. The Turkey Bowl will take place Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Thompson Middle School, 1001 Middletown-Lincroft Road, Middletown. The touch football tournament is a fundraiser for Jason's Dreams for Kids, Red Bank,

Deadline to register is Nov. 3 for the seven-vs.-seven, touch football tournament open to men 18 and older. Entry fee is $1,000 per 16-member team with proceeds benefiting Jason's Dreams. Red Bank Elks Lodge 233 will host a "Hoop Shoot" for boys and girls ages 8-13 Dec. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Red Bank Regional High School, 101 Ridge Road, Little Silver. The shoot is a free-throw contest in which participants attempt to sink 25 free throws, 10 in the first round and 15 in the second. For more information, call (732) 291-3068.

In addition to maintaining borough plantings and pots, preparations are under way for the group to participate in the Monmouth Museum Festival of Trees. This year's theme is "Christmas Around the World" and FHGC will be decorating a tree with a French provincial theme.

The MOMS Club of Middletown/Red Bank Area will sponsor a multifamily garage sale to benefit Project Paul in Keansburg Oct. 27 and 28, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 35 Bamm Hollow Road, Middletown. The event will be held rain or shine. Project Paul distributes food to needy people, prevents homelessness and supports single parents in college. MOMS Club is a support group for mothers, which provides free weekly activities for their children within the local community and a forum for topics of interest to mothers. Shrewsbury resident Julie E. Kirsh placed second in her age category, 45-49, with a time of 50:35 at the 27th annual Brielle Hill & Dale 10K race, which was run Sept. 8 in Brielle. The race drew approximately 300 runners, 115 of which were women. Kirsh also placed 88th overall.
