      Preservation trust needs support Nov. 6
            One of life's eternal frustrations is that we seem to keep dealing with the same problems over and over again. This time last year, many open space advocates supported a referendum introduced by the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders to link the county's yearly contribution for open space programs to the county's taxable ratables.

      Bills would tamper with fish and wildlife council
            Legislative bills A-3275 and S-2041 exemplify the worst kind of bad legislation. These bills are designed to destroy the New Jersey Fish and Game Council. The bills would exclude knowledgeable fish and wildlife experts and sportspersons from the council and replace them with political appointees.

      Hip-hop not the real reason for street fight
            When I read the part of the story "Red Bank melee" (Oct. 25) where the owner of Chubby's agreed to a "borough-sanctioned" ban on hiphop concerts, I laughed out loud. I instantly thought of the period of time in the late '50s and early '60s when some adults wanted to ban rock 'n' roll music because they felt it was corrupting the morals of the youth!
