Public housing at Earle will mean higher taxes

As a resident of Tinton Falls for over 10 years, I have seen my real estate tax climb from $2,800 when I purchased my home to the current $8,000, most of which is to support school funding.

The U.S. Navy is now letting 500 nonmilitary families move into its Earl Naval base, which sends its children to be educated in Tinton Falls. That is on average 1,000-plus more children in our school system, which is not receiving additional tax revenues from the Navy to support these children.

Tinton Falls has an agreement to educate Navy and Marine families, but these are nonmilitary personnel. Where is this money going to come from? The residents of Tinton Falls.

Where is the outcry from our state officials and Gov. Corzine? In the state that pays the highest real estate taxes in the nation, there are no leaders who are stepping up to defend their constituents from being gouged by the federal government. We need a change from our "donothing" legislators. This is truly taxation without representation.
