ALS tour of Millville slated for Jan. 20, 21

The American Littoral Society (ALS), Sandy Hook, will lead a tour of natural and historic features surrounding Millville, Jan. 20 and 21 beginning at 9 a.m.

Attendees should meet Jan. 20 at Peek Preserve, where the group will caravan to the old growth forest. ALS staff will be assisted by a local expert from the National Lands Trust, stewards of Bear Swamp, and explore the 1400-acre forest of 500- to 700-year-old black gum and American hollies. Tour attendees will visit East Point Lighthouse and Moore's Beach Jan. 21.

Fee is $35 for Saturday, or $55 for both days, and advance registration is required. Out-of-towners are encouraged to stay in or near Millville Jan. 19. For reservations or more information, call (732) 291-0055 or e-mail jim@littoralsociety.org.
