Boro Council seeks candidate to fill vacancy
Moss resigns after two terms
BY LINDA DeNICOLA

SHREWSBURY - The Borough Council accepted the resignation of council member William D. Moss last week.

Moss, a two-term councilman on the all- Republican council, submitted a letter of resignation saying his time on the council has been extremely rewarding but he is resigning "due to the increased demands in my personal and work life."

Moss, who had been serving on the Zoning Board of Adjustment, was appointed to the council in 2000 to fill the unexpired term of Marge Pignataro. He was elected to his first three-year term in 2001 and re-elected in 2004.

Moss chaired the council's Finance and Grants Committee and served as council liaison to the Planning Board, fire department and first aid squad. He served on the Police Committee, Insurance and Benefits Committee and the Fire House Building Committee. He was also the borough representative on the Red Bank Regional High School Board of Education and chaired the Memorial Day Committee.

Mayor Emilia Siciliano said he will be missed.

As has been the case over many years, there are never any challengers for any of the seats on the council. In fact, Siciliano said, she does not remember anyone stepping forward to challenge the status quo during her tenure.

Moss has a year left, so the council has 30 days to fill the position. It is expected that the Shrewsbury Republican Municipal Committee will submit the names of three candidates. The Borough Council will interview each before making a decision.
