Ethel Lee Maples

Mrs. Maples, 57, of Freehold, died Jan. 15, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, after battling a long illness. She was born in New Brunswick and had lived in Englishtown before moving to Freehold 41 years ago. Prior to retiring a year ago, she was a certified nurse aide at the John L. Montgomery Medical Home, Freehold Township, for 20 years. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Freehold, and was also an avid bingo player. Mrs. Maples was predeceased by her parents, Essie Mae Herbert Maples and Joseph Baskerville. Surviving are four sons, Lynn Chris Billingsley, Ellis Billingsley and William Craig Billingsley, all of Freehold, and Melvin Jermaine Billingsley of Plainfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Vatrina Anne Billingsley and Douglas Oglesby; seven brothers and four sisters-in-law, Joseph Maples of Detroit, Harry and Marie Maples of New Brunswick, Robert and Sandra Maples of Farmingdale, Frank and Mae Maples of Piscataway, Nathaniel Maples of Shrewsbury, Edward and Mary Maples of Freehold, and Gregory Maples of Lakewood; a sister, Margaret Marlow of Lakewood; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many friends and extended family members. Funeral services were held at the New Hope Baptist Church, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth J. Roonan

Mr. Roonan, 88, of Oceanport and formerly Tinton Falls, died Feb. 12, 2007, at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a senior vice president at William H. McGee & Company, New York City, retiring in 1989 following 40 years in the insurance industry. He was also a former president of the American Institute of Marine Underwriters. He served with the U.S. Army with the rank of Major during World War II, and as a reservist in the Korean War. He was a former member of Tinton Falls First Aid Squad, and Maritime Law Association. He enjoyed golf and travel. He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen Meehan Roonan in 2003. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Beverly Roonan of Oceanport, and Randy and Sheryll Roonan of Fairfield, Conn.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.

Helen E. Magella Kreidler

Mrs. Kreidler, 84, of Keyport, died Feb. 11, 2007, at Care One at Holmdel. Born in Johnstown, Pa., she resided in Carteret, Matawan, Red Bank and Connecticut, prior to relocating to Keyport. She was a retired secretary at W & J Sloans, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Kreidler in 2002. She is survived by a daughter, Kristina Kreidler of Keyport. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Sachiko Venezia

Mrs. Venezia of Red Bank, died Feb. 12, 2007, at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York City. Born in Yokohama, Japan, she resided there and in several areas while he husband was stationed abroad prior to relocating to Red Bank. She helped operate the family owned business, The Trade Winds Motel and Marina, Sea Bright. Prior to that, she was employed at Standard Oil, Tokyo. She enjoyed time with her family, pottery and artwork. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Vincent; a daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Ed DeFabio of Rumson; and two granddaughters. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Colts Neck. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.

Joseph Peter Lucarelli

Mr. Lucarelli, 70, of Vero Beach, Fla., and Rumson, died Feb. 9, 2007, at his home in Vero Beach, following a lengthy battle with cortical basal degeneration. He was the manager of his family's real estate business, Versailles Realty Co. for more than 40 years. He was a second lieutenant in the National Guard. He was president of the Multi-Housing Institute of New Jersey. He served on the boards of Monmouth Day Care Center, Rumson Recreation Board, and Community YMCA. He enjoyed sailing and golf. He was predeceased by a brother, Francis Xavier Lucarelli. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Thea Lucarelli; three sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin and Francoise Lucarelli of Fair Haven, James and Virginia Lucarelli of Telluride, Colo., and Sam and Becki Lucarelli of Chatham, Mass.; a daughter and son-in-law, Dodi and Marc Allocca of Richmond, Va.; a sister and brother-in-law, Roseanne and Pat Kramer of Rumson; and 12 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Cross Church, Rumson. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Dennis J. Farley

Mr. Farley, 62, of Union Beach, died Feb. 14, 2007. Born in Jersey City, he resided there prior to relocating to Union Beach in 1965. He was a mechanical inspector at Breeze-Eastern Transtechnology, Union, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed bike riding, reading, and time with his family. He was predeceased by a brother, Vincent Farley; a sister, Doris O'Day; and his father-in-law, Albert De Angelo. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Josephine; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Joanne Farley of Jamestown, N.C.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Janet Ann Matthews of Freehold, and Bernadette and Kevin Willett of Little Silver; his mother-in-law, Christine De Angelo; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Interment was at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Edward James Kelsey

Mr. Kelsey, 60, of Freehold, died Feb. 15, 2007, at home. He was born in Long Branch. He was an information systems director at NJ Bell, New Brunswick, retiring after several years. He was an avid New York Mets and Giants fan. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John Thomas and Diva Kelsey of Long Branch; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Clare Ann Kelsey of Red Bank, and Jean Thomas Murphy and her husband Charles of Broomfield, Colo.; and two nieces. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.

T. Scott Kennedy

Mr. Kennedy, 57, of Shrewsbury Township, died Feb. 15, 2007, in West Long Branch. Born in Butler, Pa., he resided in Tinton Falls prior to relocating to Shrewsbury Township in 1995. He was a technical manager at Net2Phone, West Long Branch. Prior to that, he was employed at Bell Laboratories and Lucent Technologies in Holmdel and West Long Branch, and worked on the lunar landing project. He enjoyed coin collecting, Atlantic City, and trains. He was predeceased by his father, Guy Kennedy in 1998; his mother, Mildred Booher Kennedy in 2005; and a brother, William Johnson in 1993. HE is survived by two daughters, Melissa Kennedy of Woodstock, Ga., and Jessica Kennedy of Tinton Falls; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Virginia Kennedy of Denton, Texas; his former wife, Deborah Kennedy; and his companion, Yvette Newman of Forked River. Interment was in Mars, Pa. Arrangements were by Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown. Memorial donations may be made to Make A Wish Foundation, The Gulf Tower, 707 Grant St., Pittsburgh, PA 15219-1916.
