The Community YMCA is expanding its children's programming with a new science and robotics program. A variety of classes are scheduled at the Children's Cultural Center in Red Bank, a branch of The Community Y. Open to kids ages 8 to 13, each program has a different focus in exploring robotics to teach real-life applications of science and technology, and encourage creative problem-solving. Financial assistance is available to families on a need-based sliding scale. For more information, contact The Children's Cultural Center at (732) 842-7177 or visit the Children's Cultural Center link at www.TheCommunityYMCA.org.

Another family will celebrate the joy of home ownership on Saturday, March 10, at noon when Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Monmouth County dedicates a newly constructed home at 70 Bank St. in Red Bank.

The house has been constructed on land donated by the Borough of Red Bank. The sale price of the home is based on out-of-pocket construction costs. Volunteer labor greatly reduces the cost and Habitat's 30-year, no-interest mortgage makes the carrying costs affordable.

More land for houses is always needed, and municipalities and private land owners are encouraged to donate land whenever possible. For more information, call Habitat for Humanity at (732) 728-0441.

If you are of Scandinavian ancestry by birth, marriage, or have an interest in learning and keeping the Scandinavian heritage and culture active for future generations, contact Cherstin Peterson, at (732) 530-9531..
