Thomas Alexander Brooks at the site of his service project.
Thomas Alexander Brooks, Tinton Falls, was honored at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor April 1.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Tom refurbished a piece of property for the West Side Community Center in Asbury Park, providing a safe place for children to play and for community events.

He supervised a crew of fellow scouts, friends and community members who volunteered to clear brush, branches, trash and recyclables. Fill dirt was delivered and grass seed was spread. He raised over $1,600 in donations toward the cost of the fence for the lot.

Tom has been a member of Boy Scout Troop 49, Fort Monmouth, since 2001 and currently holds the position of junior assistant scoutmaster.

A junior at Monmouth Regional High School, Tinton Falls, he has earned 23 merit badges and in 2006, earned the Leadership in Service Award.
