Memorial Day services

Red Bank Elks Lodge 233, along with other organizations, will participate in the Red Bank-sponsored Memorial Day Service at the veterans monument on Monmouth Street May 28 at 11 a.m.

The Red Bank Children's Cultural Center, a branch of The Community YMCA, will host "Flowers for Heroes" on Saturday to prepare the veterans monument for the annual Memorial Day Services on Monday.

The monument, "Handing Down Old Glory," was made in Barre, Vt., and installed on Red Bank's former borough hall grounds in 1926. For more information, call (732) 842-7177.

Sea Bright Memorial Day services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. and will include remarks by the mayor and council members as well as a presentation by Command Sgt. Maj. Linza Chapman from Fort Monmouth.

The event will also include the singing of the national anthem and other patriotic songs and the traditional wreath ceremony and flag lowering in honor of Sea Bright residents who have sacrificed military action throughout the years.

Following the program, the Sea Bright Fire Ladies Auxiliary will serve a free buffet. For more information, call (732) 842-0099.

The borough of Rumson will hold its annual Memorial Day Service Monday at 11 a.m. at Victory Park. Following the service, there will be the placing of wreaths. For more information, call (732) 842-3300.
