Farley Boyle, founder of Chase for Life, will demonstrate cardiopulmonary resuscitation for children. Tom Puget, undersheriff with the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office, will present the "Ident-Adult" program and issue wallet-size photo ID cards containing personal emergency information, doctors' numbers, etc. ***** Friends and family of longtime Oceanport resident Barbara Fuller will host a spaghetti dinner June 3 to raise money for renovations necessary to make her home wheelchair accessible. Fuller broke her neck and most of the bones in her face when she fell down a flight of cellar stairs. She is currently in a rehabilitation facility and is expected to return home within the next month. The dinner will be the first of a number of community fundraisers planned to assist with expenses related to the accident. The spaghetti dinner is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Portaupeck firehouse on Myrtle Avenue. Admission is $10, $6 seniors and children under age 10. For information, call Marilee Celestino at (732) 542-3590. ***** On Sunday, 15 local swimmers will dive into the icy waters of the Navesink River and swim up and down its entire length to raise money for children who have been diagnosed with terminal illnesses. The ninth annual "Swim for Kids" is an eight-mile tour, and this year will benefit Jason's Dreams for Kids, founded by Red Bank businessman Dennis McGinnis. Accompanied by kayakers, motor support boats and Marine Police, swimmers will begin the event at 10 a.m. at Victory Park in Rumson, swim to Red Bank and return to Victory Park some four hours later. To sponsor a swimmer, e-mail jportman@comcast.net or mail donations to Swim For Kids Inc., 247 Kemp Ave., Fair Haven 07704. Previous swims have raised more than $50,000. All of the pledges will be donated to Jason's Dreams for Kids, which assists families of seriously ill children. ***** 180, Turning Lives Around Inc. and the Valerie Fund at The Children's Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center presented a children's musical called "The Adventures of Zak" at Red Bank Regional High School May 20. The story featured an animated hero named Zak on a journey to earn a pair of golden wings by helping a child gain self-confidence. "Zak" is produced by the Magical Music for Life Foundation and all proceeds from the event benefited the two presenting nonprofit organizations. ***** The borough of Oceanport is holding a "Be Green: Waterways and Open Spaces" volunteer project June 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Old Wharf House on East Main Street. The event is aimed at building a cleaner, healthier and greener environment through community action. The project is being led by borough resident Voula Constantarakos, and is being sponsored by Whole Foods of Middletown and supported by the Oceanport Borough Council and the Water Watch Committee. Volunteers are needed to participate in the project and should bring goggles or glasses, rubber boots and water the day of the event. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Prevention First's annual gala was held Friday, May 11, at the Rumson Country Club. The Ocean Township-based nonprofit agency honored Sen. Joseph Kyrillos (R-Monmouth) and Susan Kyrillos for their dedication to improving the lives of children and their families. The evening in its entirety raised more than $225,000 and all proceeds will be used to further Prevention First's mission of strengthening the foundations of children and families by empowering them to successfully handle difficult everyday-life situations as well as extraordinary challenges such as violence and substance abuse ***** Monmouth University classes of 1982, 1997 and the 2000-2004 cluster are invited to attend an alumni reunion June 2 and 3. The event will take place June 2 at the Wilson Hall roof, and on June 3 there will be a clambake and brunch at Doherty House. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the alumni office at (732) 571-3489. ***** Gov. Jon S. Corzine has submitted five nominations to the state Senate for the position of Superior Court judge, including Fair Haven resident Dennis R. O'Brien.
