A summer of transitions
The show of photography by Gina Bellando, oils and watercolor by Eleanor G Miller and graphite, encaustics and watercolor by Robert W. Pillsbury will run through June 30. Bellando, Elizabeth, is inspired by the philosophy and works of the pictorial photographers of the early 20th century, who strived to make photographs that approached a painterly aesthetic. The starting point for these images is soft-focus exposures made with pinhole cameras, plastic cameras and a vintage Canon. Miller of New City, N.Y., is displaying works in oil and watercolors with gold and silver leaf, rich with color. Her style ranges from realism flowing with impressionistic brush strokes into grids of abstraction. Pillsbury of New York City is showing works on paper and canvas that captivate with subtle colors. These works are intimate landscapes of texture, rich with layers of graphite, encaustic or oil glazes that reveal a refined composition of cross-hatched lines.
