Eleanore Crespy

Mrs. Crespy, 92, of Little Silver, died July 9, 2007, at home. She resided in Little Silver for more than 50 years. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She enjoyed cooking, and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. in 1974. She is survived by a son, John of Palm Desert, Calif.; two daughters, Gail of Little Silver, and Lynn Goldstrohm of Tustin, Calif.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be July 12 from 6-9 p.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be July 13 at 10 a.m. at church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

Carl Harold Philips

Mr. Philips, 82, of Hazlet, died July 1, 2007, at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, he resided there prior to relocating to Hazlet 18 years ago. He was a machinist at Westinghouse Elevator, Jersey City, for 25 years, retiring in 1980. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II during the Battle of the Bulge, and received the Purple Heart. He was a former parishioner at Bethany Lutheran Church, Jersey City. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Philips in 2006; a daughter-in-law, Colleen Philips in 1999; a sister, Viola "Pinky" Philips; and a brother, Alfred Philips. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Connors Philips; a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Karen Philips of Jersey City; a sister, Alfred "Tootie" Linquist of Tinton Falls; and four grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy was at St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church, North Middletown. Burial followed at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to Arnold Walter Nursing Home, 622 S. Laurel Ave., Holmdel 07733; or Hazlet First Aid Squad, P.O. John O. Muessig

Mr. Muessig, 85, of Tinton Falls, died July 2, 2007, at home. He was born in Newark. He was an insulator at International Heat and Frost Insulators, Newark, for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the China-Burma Theater. He was the recipient of several medals such as his Air Crew Wings, Distinguished Flying Cross, The Air Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of Local 32, Newark. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Henry. He is survived by his wife, Annelies Doelling Muessig; two sons and daughters-in-law, John R. and Karen Muessig, and Thomas J. and Therese Muessig; two daughters and one son-in-law, Deborah J. Paolini, and Donna A. and Patrick DelVecchio; and five grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Leo The Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft section of Middletown. Burial was at Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, Union. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Lee Forrest

Mrs. Forrest, 87, of Tinton Falls, died May 28, 2007, at her home in Seabrook Village following a brief illness. Born in Bloomfield, she was raised in South Orange, and resided in Tinton Falls more than 50 years. She was a retired employee of Bell Labs/Lucent Technologies, Holmdel. Prior to that, she was employed in the guidance department at Monmouth Regional High School, Tinton Falls. She and her husband were founding members of the First Unitarian Church, Lincroft section of Middletown, where she taught Sunday school. She was a lifelong member of the American Association of University Women, and the League of Women Voters, and initiated the successful plan to establish Seabrook Village as its own voting district within Tinton Falls. She was a founder of the Memorial Association of Monmouth County. She enjoyed the arts, and served as president of the Monmouth County Arts Council. She also enjoyed sailing. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Painter and Constance Forrest, both of Venice, Calif.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three nieces. A memorial service will be July 14 at 1 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church.
