The FRA PossAbilities Walk & Tech- Expo will be held Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Atlantic Club in Manasquan from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. The one-mile walk will celebrate the abilities and accomplishments of children and adults with special needs. There will also be games, face-painting, music by the PACman band and Dancing with Jay. FRA is seeking sponsors and walkers to raise awareness, funds and hope. Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome. The borough of Shrewsbury in conjunction with Friends of Addiction Recovery N.J., National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-N.J., announced it is observing National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, themed "Voices of Recovery: Saving Lives, Saving Dollars," during September. The announcement was made by Shrewsbury Mayor Emilia M. Siciliano who proclaimed September as National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month in Shrewsbury.

Siciliano also recognized Karen Lloyd, the borough's recovery delegate, and its recovery delegation for contributions to the recovery community in Shrewsbury.

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 2226, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, will host a benefit for a fellow veteran with terminal cancer, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Middletown VFW Post, Route 36. The post is helping to ease the medical costs to the family. Tickets are $25 and are available at the door.

The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties will present the seventh annual "Take a Slice Out of Hunger" Sept. 24 at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at The Front Street Trattoria, 31 W. Front St., Red Bank. The menu will include gourmet pizza, salad, a glass of wine, and desserts donated by Ye Olde Pie Shoppe, Little Silver.

Jazz music will be performed by

Sonny Kenn. There will also be door prizes donated by local merchants. Cost is $50 per person, and 100 percent of proceeds will be donated to the FoodBank. For more information, call (732) 918-2600.

The Shrewsbury Borough Police Department in collaboration with 180 Turning Lives Around, Hazlet, is recruiting volunteers for its Domestic Violence Response Team. The team works in conjunction with the police to provide support, information, referrals and a safety plan to the victim at the time of crisis.

Applicants must be 18 or older, have access to transportation, possess a valid driver's licenses, be willing to serve on an on-call shift basis, and submit to a background investigation and fingerprinting. Volunteers must complete a 40-hour training course from Oct. 15 to Nov. 7, Monday- Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. in Belmar.
