Fort Monmouth honors military retirees
Fort Monmouth will host its annual Military Retiree Appreciation Day Saturday, Oct. 13.

Admission is free and military retirees from all services and their families in Monmouth, Middlesex, Union, Morris, Warren, Essex, Hudson, Bergen, Sussex, Hunterdon and Passaic counties are invited and encouraged to attend.

The day will begin at 9 a.m. in the Officers' Club, Gibbs Hall on Tinton Avenue, with the posting of colors followed by remarks by Col. Stephen M. Christian, Fort Monmouth Garrison commander.

Invited to make presentations are the Patterson Army Health Clinic commander, representatives from Military Retired Pay and the Retiree Dental Plan, plus many other service providers and military associations.

After the formal program, information tables will be manned with representatives from on- and off-post activities providing various offers and benefit updates for military retirees. A pay-as-you-go buffet lunch will be available in the main dining room.

During the event, military retirees will have the opportunity to: speak to representatives from Social Security and the Veterans Administration; have their blood pressure checked; pick up additional health-care information; visit the museum; renew their military ID cards; register their vehicles; and take advantage of discounts offered at the Commissary and Post Exchange.

This is the Fort Monmouth community's opportunity to honor the men and women who served before them. Military retirees from all services are encouraged to attend and spend an informative and enjoyable day at Fort Monmouth.
