The Factor brothers Curtis (6), Von (5), and Zachary (2) and family built their own Star Wars Landspeeder and won the first-place prize in Fair Haven's Halloween parade Sunday Oct. 28.
The Red Bank Primary School, 222 River St., will hold an open house Nov. 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Red Bank Middle School, 101 Harding Road, will hold an open house Nov. 14 from 9-11:30 a.m. Both parents and students are encouraged to attend the open houses and learn about the schools by visiting the classrooms and meeting the administrators, teachers, students and parents. Peter S. Reinhart has been named chairman of the borough's Kaboom! Fireworks on the Navesink committee. Reinhart, a Red Bank resident, is senior vice president and general counsel for Hovnanian Enterprises Inc., Red Bank. He will succeed former chairman James Wells who has moved out of the area.Red Bank Mayor Pasquale Menna who appointed Reinhart, said he believes Reinhart will work with the other citizen volunteers to create the best fireworks display in the metropolitan area and a fitting display for Red Bank's centennial year in 2008.

The borough of Fair Haven has partnered with Fair Haven Acme, River Road, to help the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Neptune, collect turkeys and trimmings for the needy. A $20 donation added to Acme charges will purchase a turkey, canned vegetable, canned cranberry sauce, jar of gravy, box of stuffing and mashed potatoes as well as a package of dinner rolls. Red Bank Council No. 3187, Knights of Columbus will hold its annual spaghetti dinner Nov. 14 from 5-8 p.m. at the Council Hall, 200 Fair Haven Road, Fair Haven. All are welcome. Cost is $16, $8 for children, and free for children younger than age 6.

Monmouth Street Emporium, formerly know as Downtown Antiques, is offering a "shop by appointment" program for its patrons during the holidays. The 20+ dealers in the co-op will open before or after store hours, at the customer's convenience. Offered are items such as antiques,

vintage toys, new jewelry and artwork. Interested customers should call the emporium to set an appointment time.

The Scholarship chairman of Red Bank Elks Lodge 233, William M. Barnes, has distributed "Most Valuable Student Scholarship" applications to guidance counselors' offices at Henry Hudson Regional High School, Red Bank Regional High School, Rumson/ Fair Haven Regional High School, and Red Bank Catholic High School.

High school seniors should ask guidance counselors for an application or contact the local lodge. High school seniors who are not attending one of these schools and are not invited to participate at their school can call Barnes at (732) 741-8472 and he will make accommodations.

Robert L. Boyle of Rumson and the six other founders of Palisades Medical Center will be honored with the hospital's prestigious Star Stream Award as the North Bergen hospital kicks off what a yearlong celebration of its 30th anniversary.

Boyle will receive the award during 2007 Star Stream Ball Nov. 17 at the Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange.
