On Saturday, Dec. 8,Monmouth Street in Red Bank resounded with music as Ranney School's Lower and Middle School choral groups met in front of the Dublin House to sing for holiday shoppers. Dressed in their Ranney scarves, the students presented holiday musical selections to the delight of holiday shoppers. This was the first year that the chorus participated in Holiday Harmonies, a special musical event presented by Red Bank River- Center that showcases musicians and choir and band members. The choral students, together with the Ranney musical family, performed "Peace," the annual winter concert, on Dec. 20, on the Commons stage. At 1 p.m. on Jan. 5, Holly Street Music in Fair Haven will hold auditions for its new rock band program, "RockSchool." Students ages 8-18 are welcome. The 12-week session will culminate in a concert. The Alzheimer's Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, will present "Legal and Financial Considerations in Dementia Care," a free educational program for caregivers of Alzheimer's disease or related dementia disorder patients on Saturday, Jan. 19, (alternate weather date Feb. 16) from 9 to 11 a.m., at Kensington Court, 864 Shrewsbury Ave., Tinton Falls.
Attendees watch renowned pastry chef and cookbook author NickMalgieri create Melissa's Chocolate Pecan Cake in a special demonstration at CPC Behavioral Healthcare's fourth annual Culinary Adventure Oct. 29 at the Eatontown Sheraton. The deliciously successful special event raised over $35,000 for CPC's counseling programs for children and families. Co-chairs Pat Geiss of Little Silver, Robin D'Anna of Shrewsbury and Jane Guadagno of West Long Branch hosted an outstanding food and wine tasting for over 300 guests. Robin McRoberts, director of the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program of the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, Barbara Mitchell, co-president of the Woman's Club of Middletown, and Woman's Club member Ruth Murphy announced that a bounty of gifts were collected for more than 150 children whose families receive nutritional foods through the VNA's (WIC) program.
Three carloads of presents were delivered to the VNACJ Belford location by the Woman's Club, which has sponsored the gift-giving event since 1999.
The club set up three gift trees at neighborhood banks with gift tags for children up to age 5 and included requests for older siblings as well.
