      Greening' of Red Bank protects environment and saves $$
            In a recently letter, Red Bank resident Jim Corcoran questioned the reasons and justifications for the elimination of plastic bags. Mr. Corcoran wrote off my campaign to eliminate plastic shopping bags in Red Bank as "a waste of time by some grandstanding Red Bank politicians.

            One of the difficulties in a small town like Red Bank is maintaining focus on any issues for more than a moment. Most of you in the press are stretched pretty thin and new happenings are bound to crowd out any follow-up of old issues.And I fully realize that most citizens are fine with that!       Stop smoking: More than a New Year's resolution
            Jan. 1 is rolling around, that magical date in which many make resolutions and set new goals. As with each New Year, many of us plan to read more, travel more, watch our weight and kick bad habits. For far too many people, that bad habit is smoking.       Parks should use humane alternatives to deer hunt
            The Monmouth County Park System is implementing another deer hunt using bows and arrows starting Jan. 1 and lasting through mid-February. This "managed" hunt has no limit on the number of deer that can be killed and no limit on the number of licenses to be issued.
