NOTES AROUND TOWN
One flock of chicks, a flock of geese, a hive of bees, a trio of bunnies and one pig, that's what Mrs. Saffioti, of Wolf Hill School in Oceanport, received as a holiday gift from her fourth-grade class. Actually, she didn't get this menagerie, but some families around the world will receive the gifts of hope and prosperity when they get these animals through Heifer International. The order was doubled due to the generosity of Lewis Goldberg ofWest Long Branch, who matched the amount collected for this project. He came to school on Dec. 20 to watch students visit www.heifer.org and research the online catalog for gifts of livestock available for purchase. They created different animal packages, debated, and then took a vote on which package to order. Two sets of animals were ordered, totaling $500.
