Red & White Affaire raises scholarship funds
      On Saturday, Feb. 16, Monmouth County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sororitywill host its 17th annual dinner dance, "A Red and White Affaire." The fundraiser is an evening of dancing and socializing with livemusic by the Dimensions band featuring the sultry voice of Valerie Adams.

Film 'The Cruel Sea' at Brookdale Feb. 19
      The Center for World War II Studies and Conflict Resolution at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, will screen the 1945 film "The Cruel Sea," Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Warner Student Life Center. JamesMitchell, Interlaken, will be the local vet providing commentary following the film for the question and answer segment.

Applications accepted for NJMSC scholarships
      The New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium (NJMSC), Sandy Hook, and its New Jersey Sea Grant college program are now accepting applications for Stew Tweed Fisheries and Aquaculture Scholarships. The $1,000 and $1,500 scholarships will be awarded in mid-May.

Flotilla to offer boating course in April, May
      Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 2-3, Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, will hold America's boating courseApril 5,May 3 or May 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Boat operators born in 1949 or later must have a N.J. Boating safety Certificate awarded upon satisfactory completion of the course. Fee is $55 per person for text and CD, certificate application and temporary certificate.

The polling location for Fire District 1 is the Wayside Fire Company, corner of Asbury Ave and Heritage Blvd., and the polling location for Fire District 2 is the Northside Engine Company, 35 Springdale Ave.
