Red & White Affaire raises scholarship funds On Saturday, Feb. 16, Monmouth County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sororitywill host its 17th annual dinner dance, "A Red and White Affaire." The fundraiser is an evening of dancing and socializing with livemusic by the Dimensions band featuring the sultry voice of Valerie Adams. The event will take place at Branches in West Long Branch from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. This elegant evening is the major source of donations for scholarships and book grants from this sisterhood of college educated women. It is an evening to raise money for local high school seniors to assist inmeeting post-high school educational objectives. Ticket chairperson is Bonnie Keyes, a resident of Tinton Falls. Projects of theMonmouth CountyAlumnae Chapter include: a National Day of Service, workshops on health issues;Music, Music, Music, which showcases talented area youths; Dr. Betty Shabazz DeltaAcademy, amentoring programformiddle school girls; a tutorial program for students in grades K-12; InternationalAwareness, programs to assist Haiti and Ghana; a college fair featuring historically black colleges and universities. |
