As this month's special guest in Red Bank, The Hub was able to ask Colbert three questions about the gala event, titled "Lunatics & Lovers."

The Hub: Why do you think you were invited as a guest to the Two River Theatre Company gala?

Stephen Colbert: Because I am superfamous and everything I touch turns to gold. Plus, the artistic director,Aaron Posner, and I came close to destroying a lumber company in Hawaii once. It's a long story.

(Posner is the theater's artistic director.)

The Hub: What was your first reaction when you heard the news?

Stephen Colbert: I thought, No-nonsense pantsuit or a strapless gown?"

The Hub: What were you going to be doing there?

Stephen Colbert: Supporting the arts and hitting the bar.
