Family dispute ends in simple assault charge
RED BANK - A family squabble turned violent on June 17 when two first cousins became involved in a physical altercation leaving one bleeding on the street, according to Red Bank police.
Police responded to the area of West Bergen Place and Maple Avenue for a report of an assault at 4 p.m. and found the victim, Myron Dismuke, lying in the street, according to a police report.
Officers administered first aid to Dismuke, who was in and out of consciousness and bleeding from his face, according to a police department press release.
Two witnesses described the accused as Sean Dismuke, a black male wearing a black tank top, blue jeans and having long dreadlocksworn in a ponytail, according to the release.
Further investigation revealed that the victim and the accused are first cousins who had become involved in a physical altercation concerning family matters, according to the release.
Police also received information that the accused fled the scene and headed north along the New Jersey Transit tracks near the West Bergen Place crossing, according to the release.
A description of the accused was broadcast via police radio to patrol units as well as detectives.
Within a short period of time, Capt. Stephen McCarthy located Sean Dismuke, who police said was hiding in the bushes several hundred feet north of the West Bergen Place train crossing.
Sean Dismuke was taken into police custody and was later charged with simple assault, according to Red Bank police.
