Hawks picked to finish second in NEC football
Monmouth opens season on Aug. 30 at Rhode Island
      Northeast Conference football coaches voted for experience. Even though the Monmouth University football team was 4-6 overall last fall and 3-3 in the NEC, the conference coaches picked coach Kevin Callahan's squad to finish second behind Albany. The Hawks have returned nine starters on the offense and 10 on defense.

      The Monmouth University football team completed its first of two scrimmages for the 2008 preseason on Saturday, Aug. 16, at Kessler Field. The Hawks were split into the White (offense) and Blue (defense) squads and alternated playing between the first, second, third and fourth teams.
