The Foundation for Shrewsbury Education hosted an "Unpack the Macs" party Aug. 27 to unveil the 25 new Apple computers purchased by the foundation for the Shrewsbury Borough School's Computer Lab. The computers will be for used by students in grades K-8. ***** Spoil yourself Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 247 Broad St., Red Bank, in a benefit for the international nonprofit organization Where Peace Lives. Tickets are $20 ($25 at the door) and support the mission of Where Peace Lives, which provides conflict resolution and peace-building training for children and teens.
The wellness fair encourages people to treat themselves to massage therapy, facials, reflexology, raw foods and more, all while helping raise money to teach youngsters to make the world a better place.
All proceeds will benefit Where Peace Lives, which launched the International Peace Mural Exchange Project, a worldwide cultural art exchange.

The United Way of Monmouth County, in conjunction with Seabrook, Tinton Falls, held a back-to-school "SchoolTime Wishes" collection drive at Seabrook to provide needy Monmouth County students with school supplies. The drive was organized by Seabrook staff members. Throughout part of August, residents and staff donated backpacks and new school supplies to be dispersed to students throughout the county. The Shrewsbury Garden Club will begin its club year with a meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at the home of Joanne Beagan, Tinton Falls. The Girls' Friendly Society will hold a kickoff reception at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at Christ Church Shrewsbury, 380 Sycamore Ave. The event will feature foods from around the world. The group's meetings will be split between 6:30 p.m. Mondays and 5 p.m. Sundays to allow members with weekday commitments to stay in touch. Sunday meetings will feature cooking to allow girls to enjoy fellowship and bake for church events as well as local charities. Upcoming activities include a Sunday supper on Oct. 26, a holiday bazaar bakeoff Nov. 30, and Christmas cookies for Martha's Cupboard food pantry in Long Branch on Dec. 14.
