      RU football gets back on track against UConn
      Scarlet Knights hold on late to defeat Huskies; team is now 2-5 on the season
            Following two straight narrow defeats, many of the Rutgers football faithful felt the team was due to have things go their way for a change. Maybe it was time for quarterback Mike Teel to break out of his season-long slump, or time for Dom Natale to get his crack at running the team. Or perhaps the Scarlet Knights needed Tiquan Underwood to regain his 2007 form.

      Brown's homecoming not a happy one
      RBC grad runs into strong Rutgers defense
            Saturday's Rutgers Homecoming Day football game had meant more to UConn running back Donald Brown than probably anybody else on the field that day. The junior not only came into the game leading the nation in rushing, but being from Atlantic Highlands and having gone to Red Bank Catholic High School certainly carried some weight as well.

      Shore Regional tennis ready for playoffs
      Girls to take on tough Pascack Hills team today
            Shore Regional High School girls tennis coach Michele Gruskos fully expected her team to be competitive with Manasquan in the Central Jersey Group II final on Thursday at Red Bank Regional. After all, Gruskos was familiar with the Blue Warriors, having watched her team's run at a state sectional come to an end at the hands of Manasquan a year ago.
