Registration under way for Navesink Challenge
      The Jersey Shore Running Club (JSRC), the Middletown Youth Athletic Association (MYAA) and Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Monmouth County will host the eighth annual Navesink Challenge Nov. 30 at Bodman Park, Middletown. Registration is $22 before Nov. 1, $27 from Nov. 1-21, and $30 thereafter.

      The third annual Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Memorial 3.5 Mile Run/2 Mile Walk will be held Nov. 9 at PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel. Early registration deadline is Oct. 31. No T-shirts are guaranteed to registrants after Oct. 31.

Red Bank Library slates November events
      Red Bank Public Library, 84 W. Front St., will welcome Dr. Michael Rushnak, Jackson, discussing and signing copies of his book "Terminal Neglect," 7-8:30 p.m. Nov. 6. The novel explores the realm of illegal influences on the FDA approval of questionable prescription drugs, and whether the next blockbuster drug will land the public in an early grave.

NSRG cleanup in Middletown Nov. 2
      The Navesink Swimming River Group (NSRG) in conjunction with the Monmouth County Clean Communities Program, will hold a cleanup from noon-3 p.m. Nov. 2 beginning at Washington Park, Washington Avenue, Middletown. The cleanup will focus on picking up trash and recyclables from areas at or near the Poricy Brook. Gloves, bags and refreshments will be provided.

'Understanding Memory Loss' Nov. 8
      The Alzheimer's Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter will present "Understanding Memory Loss," 10 a.m. Nov. 8 at The Chelsea at Tinton Falls, Tinton Falls. The free program is for family caregivers, and will explore the difference between normal age-related memory changes and abnormal changes associated with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia disorders.
