      Lunch Break makes appeal for holiday needs
            Lunch Break, Red Bank's nonprofit soup kitchen, has been serving members of our community for 25 years. Our main responsibilities are to serve hot lunches at Lunch Break Mondays through Fridays, and bag lunches each Saturday, which are prepared by volunteers from St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church in Lincroft.

      Red Bank voter: 'I had to pay to vote' on Election Day
            Classic Red Bank: I drove home from work Nov. 4 and stopped to vote … guess what? I had to pay to vote. Why, you ask? Because Red Bank didn't waive any parking fees around my voting station and there is no free parking except at my house, which wouldn't leave me enough time to walk and get my vote in.

            One out of three American women reports being abused at some point in her lifetime. One in five employed adults in the United States is a victim of domestic violence. For those of us who work at large companies, that means we may be working side-by-side with hundreds of people touched by domestic violence.

      Save Sandy Hook will continue to fight Hook project
            We have read the article by Mary Lou Strong that appeared in this paper on Nov. 7. Ordinarily we do not reply to such drivel, but this deserves some answers. I am the president of Save Sandy Hook and my husband is the secretary. Save Sandy Hook (SSH) consists of 14 people, residents of our area. They join in our response.

      Pallone has power to end Fort Hancock lease
            Congressman Frank Pallone has reportedly written to the director of the National Park Service asking the NPS to terminate its lease with Sandy Hook Partners. The lease will bring about the rehabilitation and reuse of 36 out of 100 buildings in the Fort Hancock district of Sandy Hook, Gateway National Recreation Area.

      Parents extends thanks to Tour de Shore supporters
            On Oct. 12, Timmy's Tour de Shore for pediatric brain tumor research was held at Fort Hancock in Sandy Hook. It was a beautiful, sunny day perfect for a 2-, 8- and 23-mile bike ride. The Tour de Shore attracted more than 450 bike riders. Many families came out to enjoy a day full of fun, food and entertainment.
