      Foundation offering letters from Santa
            The Arthritis Foundation, New Jersey Chapter, is offering personalized letters from Santa Claus at $8 each. Proceeds support programs and services for adults and children with arthritis. The foundation will send a child, adult or pet a personalized letter and token gift from Santa. To send a letter, make a check payable to the Arthritis Foundation.

            A "Global Teach-In," will be held Nov. 20 and 21 at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown. Professors will open their classrooms at the free event during International National EducationWeek, Nov. 17-21.

      Jingle Bell Run/Walk slated for Dec. 13
            The Arthritis Foundation will hold its Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis Dec. 13 at Bar Anticipation, Lake Como. The event offers either a 3-mile fun run or walk, and participants may run or walk in honor of a friend or family member with arthritis, or to show they are taking control of arthritis.

            Local fitness professional and author Fred Fornicola will discuss his book, "Youth Fitness: An Action Plan for Shaping America's Kids," 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library, 1001 Route 35, Shrewsbury.

      Register by Nov. 26 for Poricy Park run
            Poricy Park Conservancy, Middletown, in cooperation with Jersey Shore Running Club, will hold its annual 5K Trail Run/Walk 9:30 a.m. Dec. 6 at Poricy Park. Participants should assemble at 9 a.m. at the nature center. Additionally, there will also be a Fun Run for Kids, and 5-mile run. The trail run, open to all ages, is on mostly grass and dirt terrain in the park.

      Cars sought for Vehicle Donation Program
            The American Lung Association is looking for a few new or used cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles and boats for its Vehicle Donation Program. Vehicles received are sold for the highest value possible to help fund the mission to prevent and control lung disease. The association will pick up the car at no cost to the owner.

      Carolers sought to sing at hospital Dec. 11
            Adults are now being sought to sing Christmas carols at 6 p.m. Dec. 11 at Mo mouth Medical Center, Long Branch. A good voice is not required, just the desire to add a little enjoyment to patients, visitors and hospital staff.
