The verdant landscaping of the Kiefer/Bamberger property in Leonardo was one of those recognized by the Navesink Garden Club. RED BANK — The Navesink Garden Club presented eight local homeowners with "Random Sighting of Beauty" awards in recognition of the visual impact of their gardens.

The landscaping of their properties prompted the club to do something special to recognize the impact of the well-tended gardens on their communities, according to a press release from the garden club.

Four of the properties are in the Leonardo section of Middletown and belong to Rose Marie Malus, Richard Kiefer and Debra Bamberger, Michael J. Gibbons and Marilyn & Frank DeLauro. Three properties are in Red Bank, belonging to John Paul Nicholaides and Edward Zipprich, Ann Davis and Rubin Gomez. An award was also given to Long Branch residents Daniel & Lisa George.

Davis, Kiefer and Gomez received their awards at the Nov. 10 Red Bank Borough Council meeting.

As a way of encouraging homeowners to beautify their properties, the Navesink Garden Club initiated the project titled "Civic Beautification."

A committee traveled throughout the community, taking pictures of local properties and residences with attractive, wellmaintained landscaping and colorful attractive flowers visible to the public.

The Navesink GC meets the second Tuesday of each month in Red Bank in the auditorium of the Trinity Episcopal Church on Front Street. The meetings are open to the general public.

The club is a member of The Garden Club of New Jersey and National Garden Clubs.
