      Genealogy Society to hear talk on new archive material
            EATONTOWN — Joseph Klett, chief of the State Archives, will discuss the latest addition to the records stored at the archives in Trenton at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11, for The Monmouth County Genealogy Society. Klett will speak about "300 years of Proprietary Records of West New Jersey," which were moved in December 2005 from Burlington.

      Santa Fun Run/Walk slated for Dec. 20
            Brookdale Community College, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown, will hold a half-mile Santa Fun Run/Walk Dec. 20. Festivities begin at 9:30 a.m., and the race at 11 a.m. There is no fee, but participants are requested to bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots or make a cash donation to toys for teens.

            The Jersey Shore Public Relations and Advertising Association (JSPRAA) is accepting application for its 2008 James R. McCormick Memorial Scholarship Awards program through Dec. 19.

      Garden club members sowing holiday cheer
            Members of the Garden Club of Fair Haven have been busy this holiday season with several projects. Club members recently decorated a tree for Monmouth Museum's "Celestial Celebration of the Holidays;" decorated the wreath that adorns Little Silver Borough Hall; made holiday swags for police headquarters; and filled planters in Memorial Park with greens and bows.

      Register for decorating contest by Dec. 10
            The Borough of Red Bank is sponsoring a home-decorating contest the week of Dec. 15, with four homeowners receiving prizes for the best presentation. Entry forms should be returned by Dec. 10. Judging will be for exterior decoration only, and prizes awarded for first place, second place, third place and honorable mention. Awards will be presented at the Dec.

      Jingle Bell Run/Walk slated for Dec. 13
            The Arthritis Foundation will hold its Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis Dec. 13 at Bar Anticipation, Lake Como. The event offers either a 3-mile fun run or walk, and participants may run or walk in honor of a friend or family member with arthritis, or to show they are taking control of arthritis.

      Aquaculture scholarship offered
            The New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium/New Jersey Sea Grant (NJMSC/NJSG) has announced the opening of the application period for the 2009 Stew Tweed Fisheries and Aquaculture Scholarship. The fund was established in memory of Stew Tweed, a veteran of the New Jersey Sea Grant Marine Extension Service, who passed away in 2007.

      Camp Sunshine Polar Dip slated
            Camp Sunshine will present the third annual A.J.'s New Jersey Polar Dip at 2 p.m. Jan. 31 at Avenue Beach Club, 23 Ocean Ave., Long Branch. Participants must raise a minimum of $100 in pledges, with all proceeds benefiting Camp Sunshine for children with life-threatening illnesses. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers and costume winners.
