Legendary Disney artist Carl Barks is recognized as the 'father' of Donald Duck's penny-pinching uncle Scrooge McDuck. Barks is credited with inventing Scrooge and many other characters during his long career of designing and illustrating comic books for Disney. Cel-ebration! Gallery is hosting "Scrooged," a show that features a selection of Barks' hand-signed, limitededition posters and giclees. The show will run through mid-January. ReVision Theatre in Asbury Park is presenting the N.J. premiere of "Scrooge in Rouge," an English music hall Christmas carol with three actors playing 23 roles in a fastpaced, quick-change musical version of the Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol." The holiday family comedy runs through Dec. 28 at the VFW hall, 701 Lake Ave. in Asbury Park. Performance times are: Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 7 pm. No show on Christmas Day. Saturday, Dec. 27 at 3 & 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 28 at 3 p.m. Tickets $35 - $25; children under 12 are $17.50 and $12.50. Applications are available for the Merit Award and Exhibit for high school seniors sponsored by The Art Society of Monmouth County. The exhibit will be held Feb. 7-21 at Monmouth Beach Cultural Center, 128 Ocean Ave. The Merit Award recognizes students of outstanding ability who plan to major in art after graduation. To participate, students must complete and return an application by Jan. 19. Laurel Tracey Gallery in Red Bank is hosting a holiday exhibition, "A few of our favorite things ..." The works featured are by artists represented by the gallery, including Jon Peters, James Gahagan, Elwood Howell, Arthur Cohen, Duane Keiser, Robert Henry, Selina Trieff, Francis Cunningham, Christine LaFuente and Alicia Rothman. The theme of the December exhibit at the

Art Alliance of Monmouth County Gallery, 33 Monmouth St., Red Bank, is "100 Square Inches," which means the work must be 100 square inches or less including the frame. Ann Gilhool from South Jersey is the artist featured in the windows of the Alliance. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. For information, contact 732-842-9403. Two River Theater Company in Red Bank ushers in the holiday season with three-time Tony Award-nominated musical "A Year with Frog and Toad." Bringing to life the whimsical stories created by Arnold Lobel, this musical romp celebrates life's simple wonders through the marvelous misadventures of Frog, and his best friend, Toad. Most enjoyed by those 5 years and older. Audience interaction with the cast following every performance. The musical runs through Jan. 11.
