Mrs. Halat, 87, of Middletown, died Dec. 11, 2008, at Care One at Holmdel. She resided in Spotswood for more than 20 years prior to relocating to Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter V. Halat, in 1997; and a brother, Joseph Szulewski. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Bruce Schneider of Middletown; two brothers, Edward Szulewski of Dupont, Pa., and William Szulewski of Elizabeth; and two grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at Mary Mother of God Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Helmetta. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
