RBC, Georgian Court expand partnership RED BANK - Red Bank Catholic High School (RBC) and Georgian Court University (GCU) in Lakewood recently signed an agreement that builds on the relationship between the two schools. Under the agreement, the two institutions will work together to enhance the educational experience of high school students. "We share the Mercy tradition and embrace the values intrinsic in a Catholic education rooted in the call to action they espouse," said RBC Principal RobertAbatemarco. "Education is a continuum, and the partnership we enter into creates a seamless link that enables our young people to think beyond their high school years." Founded in 1831, the Sisters of Mercy teachers span the world and include affiliations withmany educational institutions including GCU and RBC. Abatemarco, Assistant Principal Carolyn Bliss and Vice Principal Karen Falco joined GCU Provost Joseph F. Gower; Joseph Molitoris, director of GCU's University College; and Sister Dorothy Lazarick, director of University College services, to celebrate the agreement. According to a press release announcing the agreement, research done at the high school and via a national study by the National Research Center for Career and Technical Education has brought to light that GCU's co-educational high school programs such as Course Ahead, Course Ahead Plus and Step Ahead are advantageous to high school students. GCU coeducational graduate education programs also enable high school teachers to attain advanced degrees and serve as a means of fulfilling continuing education credits that the teaching profession requires. "The partnership also enables RBC students to become better acquainted with GCU and pursue their studies at the university," said Sister Dorothy Lazarick. GCU will host information sessions on all University College programs on five upcoming Thursdays: Feb. 7,March 6, April 3, May 1 and June 5. To register for an information session or for more information on programs, contact University College at (732) 987- 2130 or e-mail to universitycollege@georgian.edu. |
