Students score in Elks Hoop Shoot

RED BANK - The Red Bank Elks Lodge 233 participated in the Elks National "Hoop Shoot" free-throw Program at Carl Sandburg Middle School in Old Bridge recently.

Four out of six of the local Hoop Shoot participants came home with trophies, three as second-place winners and one as a third-place winner.

Joyce Wang, of Oak Hill Academy in Lincroft, came in second place in the girls 10-11 division, Christopher Weidman, of Markham Place School in Little Silver, came in second place in the boys 12-13 division; Jessica Hom, from Oak Hill Academy, came in second place in the girls 12-13 division; Jimmy Ferrogine, of Shrewsbury Borough School, took third place in the boys 10- 11 division; Tom Lang, of Point Road School in Little Silver, took fourth place in the boys 8-9 division; and Josie Larkins placed fourth in the girls 8-9 division.

The Hoop Shoot is open to all boys and girls, ages 8 through 13. All public and private schools within the jurisdiction of the local Elk Lodge are invited to participate. The six champions, one boy and one girl in each age-group, will advance to a District contest. The Red Bank Elks will honor the Hoop Shoot participants at the Youth Activities Dinner in May.
