KaBoom! Fireworks on the Navesink
The annual show is Red Bank's largest event and draws more than 150,000 spectators in a celebration of community and country. The fireworks are scheduled to begin around 9 p.m. This year, the Navesink River will host two firework barges - one in Red Bank and another in Rumson - launching more than 100,000 synchronized shells. Award-winning Garden State Fireworks of Millington, a family run pyrotechnics company in its 118th year of operation, will provide the fireworks show. KaBoom! Fireworks on the Navesink is third among the country's largest fireworks displays, following Macy's July Fourth fireworks and Thunder Over Louisville, part of the Kentucky Derby's opening ceremonies. The Red Bank Police Department is encouraging attendees to come early in order to secure a good location for viewing the fireworks display. "Parking is limited in Red Bank. We encourage the use of mass transportation. Extra trains have been added for the event. The location for viewing the fireworks is only several blocks from the train station," according to a police department press release. The release continued, "Marine Park will be shut down very early in the day. There will also be limited access to Boat Club Lane, Riverview Plaza and North Washington Street beginning in the late afternoon. By 6 p.m. the downtown area will be closed to vehicular traffic." There will be access to the Emergency Room at Riverview Medical Center all evening, according to the release. Police officers will be directing traffic to ensure public safety upon the conclusion of the fireworks show, according to the release. The release continued, "The Police Department asks you to be patient when in traffic and we will assist you. Thank you in advance and have a safe weekend." |
