Leave screeching to sea gulls, not politicians
      On July 7, Belmar was invaded by screeching sea gulls and screeching politicians. Gov. Jon Corzine, Sen. Frank Lautenberg, Sen. Robert Menendez and Rep. Frank Pallone were given their orders on the current Numbocratic talking points issued by Sens. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.

Horse racing industry must ban whips
      Jockey Jeremy Rose was recently suspended from racing for six months after whipping a horse so severely that her eye hemorrhaged. Anyone who watched the Kentucky Derby could see Eight Belles being whipped down the home stretch before she collapsed with two broken ankles.

      A letter to the editor submitted by Cindy Zipf of Clean Ocean Action that appeared in the June 26 issue should have read: The entire Atlantic Coast contains about 1 1/2 years of gas. The published versions incorrectly state the supply to be 112 years of gas.
