Auditions for the Concordia Youth Chorale will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Middletown United Methodist Church, 924 Middletown- Lincroft Road. Auditions for the newly formed Treble-makers (K-second grade) and the Junior Chorale (thirdsixth grades) will be at 6 p.m. Auditions for the newly formed Intermediate Chorale (seventh-eighth grades) and the Senior Chorale (ninth- 12th grades) will be at 7 p.m. Future performances include Carnegie Hall and a tour to Hawaii. J A Joshi, author of the historical fiction novel "Follow the Cowherd Boy," will appear at Borders Express, Monmouth Mall, Eatontown, at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, to sign copies of her novel. The event is part of her Northeast tour. The novel is set in 16th-century India and is based on the true-life story of the female folk hero Mira.

New Jersey Repertory Company, 179 Broadway in Long Branch, will present the world premiere of "Poetic License" by Jack Canfora, Sept. 4 through Oct. 5. "Poetic License" is a biting comic-drama about greed, ambition and madness that grapples with the consequences of a long-forgotten and repressed incident that comes back to haunt a family in an unexpected way. Described as "sexy, stunning, disturbing, evocative," the "Garden of Earthly Delights" will touch down in Red Bank Sept. 3-14 at the Two River Theater before beginning a New York run. Conceived, directed and choreographed by Martha Clarke, with music composed by Richard Peaslee, "Garden of Earthly Delights" brings Hieronymus Bosch's provocative painting to life in a groundbreaking exploration of Heaven, Hell and the beauty and sins in between.
