'Bike for the Basie' Sept. 20 at Sandy Hook

"Bike for the Basie," a noncompetitive bicycle tour to support Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 20 at Gateway National Recreation Area, Sandy Hook.

Rides will begin at Fort Hancock at the north end of Sandy Hook. Two routes will be offered. The five- to seven-mile "Easy Rider" allows cyclists to ride in a relatively traffic-free area in the Fort Hancock area. The 15-mile "Tour de Hook" covers the north end to the southern tip of the park and back.

A picnic lunch and T-shirt will be provided.

Registration is $100, and $50 for youngsters age 12 and younger, and proceeds will support the Count Basie Theatre.
