Solutions for today's challenges
There is one great patriotic thing that Congress can do to help jump-start the American economy.

Every congressman can go out and buy an American car. My pet peeve is American politicians riding in foreign cars on Memorial Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day and Veterans Day parades.

It is up to you to set the standard.

If GM, Ford and Chrysler need $25 billion, I say we give it to them.

They are the backbone of our economy, not Wall Street. The big three in Detroit saved the USA in World War II. We spend $25 billion every month in Iraq. We spend $700 billion on Wall Street. Invest $25 billion in Detroit.

It is estimated that there are 500,000 homeless veterans in the United States of America.

You can assume from that estimate that many of them are also jobless.

Is there any reason why surplus government housing at Fort Monmouth, Fort Hancock and Governor's Island cannot be used by homeless veterans?
