Town leaders need to cut expenses in Red Bank

It is time for the town leadership to cut expenses in Red Bank. My family has been in Red Bank for over 80 years and to see the property taxes increase makes me sick and concerned for seniors on fixed incomes. It's time to roll back the property tax no less than 15 percent. Large corporations like Microsoft, Intel and GE are cutting expenses by reducing the number of workers on their payrolls.

The town leadership needs to make some hard choices to begin cutting payroll expenses. I recall that some workers in Red Bank have two or three paid positions and are making over $150,000. It's time to reduce that person's salary in half. I know the position of parking admininistrator should be cut because that's a position to have when you have extra revenue. I am sure we could find many more jobs and salaries to cut if we go line by line.

It would be nice to have some town meetings not start at 5 p.m., so many other people can voice concerns over the high taxes we are paying. Most towns in New Jersey have town meetings around 7:30 or 8 p.m.; why is Red Bank's meeting held so early? Most people like myself work up north and cannot get to Red Bank at 5 p.m. [The council] should put it to a vote.
