RFH's Smith jumps 6-8
      Alex Smith matched his state-leading 6-8 high jump mark in capturing his first state championship. The Rumson-Fair Haven senior captured the NJSIAA State Group II title of Sunday scaling 6- 8 for the second time this winter.

Bulldog senior has best jump in the state

      Just like a jumpshooter in basketball knows when he's released a shot that it's going in, Rumson-Fair Haven high-jumper Alex Smith knew he had nailed his jump. At the recent Monmouth County Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Bulldog senior set a new personal best, 6-8, in taking home the gold medal. The jump was also the best in the state in 2009.

      Red Bank Regional High School, in conjunction with the Red Bank, Little Silver and Shrewsbury recreation departments, will host a series of free coaching clinics at the high school field house. The baseball and softball clinic will be held 7-9 p.m. Feb. 27, and the boys and girls lacrosse will be held 7-9 p.m. Feb. 28.
