      Thank goodness for school boards
            Few people question the need for their local planning board or their town council. Yet some people believe school boards somehow represent an archaic form of government - - that they don't matter and might even be expendable. Heaven forbid!

      Sen. Beck's column misleads, offers no solution
            The guest column by state Sen. Jennifer Beck, "Gov.'s Affordable Housing Law Is Destructive to New Jersey," (The Hub, Feb. 19) needs serious clarification. Throughout the column, Sen. Beck refers to "Gov. Corzine's new affordable housing law," implying that the governor has recently forced new policy and requirements on the people of New Jersey.

      Hook personnel still clueless despite new superintendent
            As a result of my visit to the Feb. 20 National Park Service (NPS) meeting held at the Fort Hancock Chapel concerning a proposed ferry dock at Fort Hancock, I feel compelled to relate to all concerned citizens that the Sandy Hook Unit of the National Park Service still remains clueless, despite the installation of new superintendent, Mr. Arvin.

      Right to Repair Act needs to be passed ASAP
            The New Jersey Assembly recently passed legislation — The Motor Vehicle Owners' Right to Repair Act — allowing consumers to have their vehicles repaired where and by whom they please. Currently, vehicles that are equipped with computers — even those with expired warranties— are forced to return to the new car dealerships for repairs.
