      The Monmouth Players will present "Night of One Acts: Stranger Things Have Happened." The plays, directed by Paul and Lori Renick, are a mix of comedy and drama. Some of the pieces are just a step outside the norm, while others take you somewhere nearer to the twilight zone. It's a fun and diverse evening with something for everyone.

      The Monmouth Players are located on the corner of Sears and Monmouth avenues in the Navesink section of Middletown. Tickets are $12 for seniors and students and 415 for all others.       The Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation's Reckless Steamy Nights is back at The Women's Club of Red Bank, 164 Broad St., Red Bank. Presented on the last Friday of each month from 8:30 to 11 p.m., admission to each event is a suggested donation of $10, which supports the foundation's scholarship funds.       "A Soldier's Play," winner of the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, will be presented at Brookdale Community College's PerformingArts Center (PAC) April 24 and 25 at 8 p.m. and Sunday,April 26, at 4 p.m. Darrell Lawrence Willis Sr. is directing the play, set during World War II when tensions were brewing overseas as U.S.Armed Forces engaged in a fight for freedom. At home, many individuals within the Armed Forces were engaged in another fight — the fight for equality. Tickets are $10, $5 for Brookdale students with a valid ID (limit of two).       Phoenix Productions is bringing the Roaring 20s back to life with its production of "Thoroughly Modern Millie." The Tony Award-winning Best Musical will have audiences at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank doing the Charleston in the aisles April 24, 25 at 8 p.m. andApril 26 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $22-$29, with senior and group discounts available.       Writers in the Raw makes its debut at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank on Friday, May 1, with an eclectic lineup of nationally touring artists that includes David Johansen (New York Dolls); Rhett Miller (The Old 97's), Alec Ounsworth (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah) and Ashton Shepherd (country artist). Writers in the Raw is an intimate acoustic encounter with four singer/songwriters, each from different genres and career points, trading songs and stories in an "in the round" format, inspiring and playing off each other, while at the same time creating a dynamic where audience members feels like they are actually part of the show.       Photographer Kim Levin, Little Silver, will hold book signings 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Paw Palace, 19 W. Front St., Red Bank; and 2-4 p.m. at Barnes and Noble at The Commons at Holmdel, 2134 Route 35, Holmdel. She will sign copies of the book she shot photos for, and written by Chris-tine Montaquila, “FRENEMIES: Cats, Dogs, and Lessons in Getting Along.” The book gives an inside look at how our furry domestic friends manage to coexist on the same planet and still live happily ever after.
