Stroke screenings slated for May 12, 13

To commemorate National Stroke Awareness Month during May, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospitals of New Jersey, Tinton Falls and Toms River, will offer stroke screenings to educate the community about the signs and symptoms of stroke.

Free screenings will be offered on May 12 at The Quality Inn, 815 Route 37 west, Toms River; and May 13 at the Comfort Inn, 3 Centre Plaza, Tinton Falls, at the "Pamper Yourself to Health" event. Screenings are 4-7 p.m.

Recent surveys have found that less than one-fourth of Americans know the most common warning signs of stroke, but general awareness increases through community stroke screenings.
