'Recent Work' by Arthur Cohen The Laurel Tracey Gallery in Red Bank is hosting an exhibit of recent works by internationally renowned painter Arthur Cohen.
Cohen studied with Edwin Dickinson at both Cooper Union and the Art Students League in New York, also with Robert Gwathmey and Reginald Marsh. He is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum, Museum of the City of New York, Brooklyn Museum, New York Historical Society, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Cape Cod Museum in Dennis and Provincetown Art Association and Museum. Internationally renowned, Cohen is a master of intuiting just when the last note of a painting is complete, and has been painting Provincetown for almost 50 years. Cohen's sweeping panoramas of Provincetown Harbor are developed from layering and scraping— thin levels of paint built up over a day, week or even several years, referred to by Cohen as the "ghost" in his painting.
Hours at Laurel Tracey Gallery are Tuesday 1-5 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday and Monday are by appointment only.
