Red Bank resident Marion Donohue was recently honored with a service award for her volunteer efforts on behalf of the Red Bank Charter School. The award was given by the New Jersey Charter Public Schools in Trenton and recognized Donohue for leading projects to build the school playground, obtain a

major arts grant,

maintain the school's Naturalist Club and sustain its weekly programs expanding knowledge of the environment and nature. She has three children who attend the school.

Bruce Whitaker, of Red Bank, was also honored by the NJCPSA with its Board of Trustees Member Award.

The award recognizes Whitaker for his service to the Red Bank Charter School where he has served as president of the

board of trustees for four years.

A screening party for the PBS debut of the documentary feature film "Greetings From Asbury Park" will be held at 4 p.m. May 17 at Mattison Park, Asbury Park. The film will be shown on a big screen, and there will be live music, a silent auction of Asbury Park memorabilia, and prizes. Attendees will receive a complimentary "cinematini." Donation is $20. St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Asbury Park, will host "Taste of the Shore" 6- 10 p.m. May 18 at The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel, Asbury Park. Proceeds will benefit the parish building fund for a new complex in Ocean Township. More than 25 local restaurants will offer tastings, and there will be a variety of wine tastings. There will also be a silent auction, hourly 50/50 raffles, Greek music, and cuisine. Tickets are $60 per person or $100 for two. Wag On Inn Rescue, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, will hold a luncheon and English tea party with three seatings, 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., May 31 at Country By the Sea Tearoom, 515 Sylvania Ave., Avon. The Monmouth Symphony Orchestra will present the Concordia Youth Chorale

at 3 p.m. May 17 at the Count Basie Theatre,

99 Monmouth St., Red Bank. A preconcert talk will be held at 2:15 p.m. in the theater. The concert will include Walton's Henry V Suite, Brahms' Variations on a Theme by Haydn, and Hedges' Psalm 104 as sung by the Concordia Youth Chorale. The First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank-Tower Hill, 255 Harding Road, will present The Calvin and Chapel Ringers followed by an ice cream social 7 p.m. June 7. The ringers are high school-age students from Little Silver, Sea Bright, Tinton Falls, Middletown, Oceanport, Holmdel, Fair Haven and Rumson. They will perform original compositions for hand bells, and arrangements of classical music and hymns. A free-will donation will be taken, and cost for the ice cream social is $3.
