The music honor society at Ranney Middle School, Tinton Falls, has been named the 2008-09 Tri-M Chapter of the Year in the junior division by the National Association for Musical Education. The chapter was chosen from 375 junior chapters worldwide and will receive an $800 scholarship for summer music study. Ranney's members organized activities for Music in Our Schools week and collected musical toys for the Toys for Tots drive. Colorest Art Supplies, 160 Newman Springs Road, Red Bank, will hold a student gallery art show 7-9 p.m. June 12. The show will feature artwork by Colorest students from the winter and spring art courses. Wine, cheese and other refreshments will be served, and admission is free. Adele "Delly" Markey Beekman, Rumson, a Junior League of Monmouth County member, has been elected as president-elect of the board of directors for the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI). She will serve from 2009-10 and succeed to the position of president from 2010-12. Beekman joined the Junior League of Monmouth County in 1977. She is a board member and past president of Family & Children's Service, Long Branch.
Tinton Falls Environmental Commission is seeking members from the community to help organize community gardens at Crawford House. The Commission will hold a meeting 7:30 p.m. June 15 to organize the community gardens. Actress Siobhan Fallon Hogan will performa second show of "The Salty Sea PTA," 8 p.m. June 19 at Two River Theater Company, Bridge Avenue, Red Bank. "Salty Sea" written by Hogan is based on a two-year stint on the PTA at her children's school. Tickets are $45 per person with a portion of the evening's proceeds being donated to Jason's Dreams for Kids Inc., which benefits children diagnosed with life threatening illnesses.
